Picked this tip up from MeetingsNet last month: cutting speaker travel costs is a priority now, so let’s use that to our advantage. Veteran speakers know to promote their programs to groups meeting in the same city. The problem: how to find who’s meeting at the hotel. Two ideas to find out about these groups: ask the hotel for a calendar of events. If they won’t give it to you, ask the planner and they’ll definitely get the list. If you want to go citywide, get a meetings calendar from the visitors and convention bureau.
